The Editions
This is the first Edition — a reflection on what it actually feels like to stand at the edge of a decision you haven't made yet. This wasn't written only for founders, though it started as one founder's story. It's for anyone who has recognized something in themselves before the world gave them permission to believe it.
There is a particular kind of beauty in uncertainty.
I felt it speaking with a French accountant, describing my dream business that did not legally exist, watching him build a document meant to convince a government it was already real. I have felt it since in smaller rooms too — before a performance found a patron, before a conversation became a relationship, before a single word of a book existed beyond the shape of it in my head.
We tend to think that recognition comes after proof. We notice the good idea after it has already worked out, the right person after the relationship has already lasted, the right path after we have already arrived at our destination. But I don't believe that to be true — not if you're honest about the moments that actually mattered.
Recognition comes first. It always has. The proof is what catches up later, if you allow it.
Children know this intuitively.
A child doesn't wait for evidence to know a story is true, or a place feels like home. They recognize it, immediately, and build the rest of their understanding around that first true thing. Most of us are taught, somewhere along the way, to distrust that instinct — to wait for proof before we're willing to begin.
Society calls it being responsible. When often, it's just fear, dressed in sheep's clothing.
Every meaningful pivot I have ever made — geographic, professional, creative — started the same way.
Not with proof. With recognition.
A small, quiet certainty that arrived months before anyone else could see what I saw, including, some days, myself.
This is what The Editions offer: an extended hand, acknowledging the liminal space between recognizing something and being able to prove it to the world.
